The significance of the glorious month of Ramadan:
The third pillar of Islam is fasting. Fasting from sunrise to sunset and abstaining from all kinds of sins and abstaining from all kinds of food and drink is called fasting. The word Ramadan is derived from the Arabic 'Ramadan', which means burning, burning or kindling. In Arabic, this fast is called 'Sawm', which means abstinence. Therefore, the thirty fasts of the holy month of Ramadan are thought to be a sadhana for devout Muslim men and women. Ramadan is a very important month for the Muslim world. With the arrival of this month, a new vitality begins in Muslim society. Prominent Muslims eagerly wait for this month.
The month of Ramadan is a month of mercy, blessings, good luck, moderation, self-purification, patience and compassion for people. The status of this month is very high because almost all the heavenly books were revealed in this month. 'Shahifah' of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS), 'Jabur' of Hazrat Dawud (AS), 'Taurat' of Hazrat Musa (AS), 'Injil' of Hazrat Isa (AS) and the last and greatest prophet, Hazrat Muhammad SAW. The Qur'an was revealed. Every Ramadan, Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh) recited the entire Quran to Jibraeel (pbuh). Therefore, reciting the Quran more and more during the month of Ramadan is a very virtuous act. In this month Hazrat Fatima Zohra (R.A.), the best of the female race, the Empress of Heaven, passed away and in this month her husband, the fourth Khalifa Sher-e-Khoda Mahavir Hazrat Ali (R.A.) was martyred. It is stated in the Holy Hadith Sharif, "There is no one as unfortunate as the person who did not attain Heaven despite receiving the holy month of Ramadan." The Holy Hadith Sharif also states that "He who was not able to forgive the sins of his life after receiving the month of fasting, may he be destroyed."

About the virtues of fasting, Allah says, "Fasting is for Me and I will repay it." Fasting in the month of Ramadan is obligatory for every Muslim man and woman, whether he is male or female, rich or poor, blind or deaf. Fasting is not obligatory only for confined lunatics and small children, the sick and some other special cases. There is severe punishment for those who break fast and neglect Ramadan Sharif. While rescuing a group of people from Hell on the Day of Resurrection, Rasulullah (s.a.w.) would ask Malik, the guard of Hell, why they were thrown into Hell, and Malik would answer that it was their punishment for neglecting the fast. Hearing this, Rasulullah (s.a.w.) said, "I will not take responsibility for those who do not give proper status to Ramadan Sharif." This shows that there is no sin for which the Prophet (pbuh) would not intercede, except the omission of fasting.
The special and main task of the month of Ramadan is fasting. By observing the fasting of the month of Ramadan, the physical and spiritual excellence of people is achieved. Tarawir prayer is a special practice for the fasting month of Ramadan. It is Sunnah to pray this prayer. It is Sunnah to read this Namaz even for a person who has not fasted for any reason. If not, it will be a sin. The Prophet (PBUH) said, 'Allah has made fasting in the month of Ramadan obligatory for you and I have prescribed the Taraweeh prayer as a Sunnah.' If someone wants to quarrel, say 'I am fasting'. Only in this month of Ramadan, the prayer of 'bitir' is performed in the congregation. Allah Almighty has blessed the house called 'Sehri' before fasting. And about 'Iftar', the Prophet (PBUH) said, when you break the fast, break it with dates because there is a blessing in it. If dates are not available, break the fast with water because it is ripe. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) described it as a month in which the first ten days of Allah's mercy are revealed, the second ten days of forgiveness and the third ten days of release from Hell. Such a golden opportunity of mercy, forgiveness and freedom from hell is not available in any other month. Allah has glorified the month of Ramadan so much that every moment of it is very important. The Nafal prayers of this month are equal to the obligatory prayers of other months.
